My transaction is pending or not showing up

Understanding pending charges, holds, and missing transactions.

Written by Rajani

Card payments happen in two steps, which explains most "pending" confusion:

  1. Authorization: the merchant places a hold on the amount. It shows as pending and is deducted from your available balance.

  2. Settlement: the merchant finalises the charge, usually within a few days, and the transaction is completed.

Why is my transaction stuck on pending?

Some merchants take several days to settle. Hotels, car rentals, and fuel stations often place a pre-authorization hold that's larger than the final amount. The difference is released automatically once the real charge settles.

The merchant says they charged me, but I don't see it

Give it a little time, as some transactions take a few minutes to appear in your history. If the merchant confirms a charge but nothing shows on your side after 24 hours, contact us with the merchant name, amount, and date.

A pending charge disappeared

That's normal. If the merchant never settles the charge (for example, a cancelled order), the hold expires and the amount is returned to your available balance automatically.
